UP-DATE:

Two people are behind bars in connection with a teen’s murder and little girl’s shooting on Cleveland’s west side Wednesday night.

19-year-old Shondre A. Badley and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested.

Police responded to the 3100 block of West 73rd for a large fight with shots fired.

17-year-old Randall Smith was found in front of 3174 West 73rd with a gunshot wound to the chest. EMS rushed the boy to the hospital, where he later died.

11-year-old Destiny Badley was shot in the face while standing in the doorway of a home on Clark Avenue. The little girl had surgery Thursday morning to repair an artery, and is currently recovering at Metro.

Destiny’s family tells 19 Action News Reporter Jen Picciano they believe Destiny was shot in retaliation, and was not the gunman’s intended target.

Destiny is the cousin of suspect Shondre Badley.

Community members, friends, and family gathered Thursday night for a rally to stop the violence.

A memorial fund has been set up for Randall Smith at any U.S. Bank.

This is Cleveland’s 53rd homicide of 2011. At this time last year, the count was 50.
