The last time the Cavaliers made it to the Conference was the 2008-2009 season. Ironically it was the Atlanta Hawks who they swept in the previous series to reach the finals, only to be upset by the Orlando Magic.
The Hawks and the Cavaliers are much different teams seven years later, with one exception: LeBron James. James has embraced the role as the team’s leader and has averaged nearly a triple double in the post season with 26.5 points per game, 10.0 rebounds and 7.9 assists to reach the conference finals for the fifth straight year.
DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Cavaliers know in order to advance to their second NBA Finals they will continue to have to get it done on the defensive side of the ball. The Hawks are a team without any superstars, but with four all-stars, and share the ball better than anybody. Atlanta has six different players averaging double figures, led by DeMarre Carroll at 17.1ppg.
