A South Carolina principal is under fire after she told high school students that leggings make some of them “look fat” at an assembly.

In audio obtained by news station WCBD, Stratford High School principal Heather Taylor is heard telling students that they shouldn’t wear leggings if they’re larger than a size 2.

“The sad thing is with that, ladies — if someone has not told you this before, I’m going to tell you this now — unless you are a size zero or a 2, and you wear something like that, even though you are not fat, you look fat,” Taylor said.

The remark sparked backlash from students who said Taylor’s guidance on the school dress code was hurtful.
